File browser app allows you to view nas drives etc and if you also have vlc app you can then stream media. That looks like it will work for me, will have a look at that when I get home. Cheers :) It works a treat, thanks for pointing that app out! :)

You can also use Double Twist Player whereby you can download from iTunes, Amazon etc and sync them to your desktop, iPhone, iPod, Android, Air Sync, Windows etc.

That was about 3rd party apps sending personal data to someone; not sure that's the same as sending all of your Address Book contacts an email?

I think 4.3.5 is only Jailbreakable "Tethered" at the moment which means you need to connect the phone to your computer every time it boots to allow it to boot completely. My current SBSettings window:

Problem With Mail In iPhone 4.
First post
Last post
Apple Mail is the app, but who is the mail service provider, which ISP? It's very likely that the issue is too many devices accessing the one mailbox all at one time. How often does the Mac account retrieve email and is the iPhone/iPad set for push or schedule? ISP is BT. I'll check the other...

I use it with my iPhone 4 because Orange 3G is so sh*te. I'm glad someone else thinks that - I'm going to try and get out of my contract with them as they just don't deliver the service I'm paying for.

Data roaming (message) in the uk
First post

I always leave data roaming on and if you read what it says under the Data roaming button it advises to turn it off when abroad. So assuming your other half has a data allowance it's probably best to leave it on in the UK.

iPhone 4 flash overheating???

Well, after a little further digging on the www, it would appear that it's more likely to be a software bug thats been evident since iOS 4.3.1. However, there are numerous reports that people have taken them to Apple and Apple have replaced the phone. Even though the fault appears to be software...

IPad Video Query

Thanks for the advice. What a strange thing that Apple appears to have tripped itself up in this way. Of course I took my first video in portrait mode and the results are predictable. However I was very impressed with the quality of the video, and the sound was very reasonable as well. Martin

So, after deciding to get the TeckNet mentioned earlier in the thread, I was in GoOutdoors today getting the last bits for my camping trip (waterproof trousers and jacket etc!) and saw this on sale for £19.97. It comes complete with an dock connector, internal battery (1000mAh) and can be charged...

I would guess that iBooks is still open in the background when you exited it and so it goes back to where it was with the file unlocked when you open it again. Have you tried killing the app before re-opening it. Either from the quick change bar or through SBSettings if you have it installed. Yes,...

Poll: iPhone charger question

USB chargers like the one for Apple or TomTom would be fine. It's the voltage requirements that may be tricky IMO. Every phone has a charger that has a lead from phone to charger ending in a USB plug. Every charger has the same power and a USB socket to plug stuff into. I can see Apple liking this...

Landscape In Pages On iPad?
First post
Last post
I have to say this is a strange behaviour for an Apple app which "knew" the iPad was coming. They even missed out a version of iWork to get Pages for iPad ready. I can't even create a document on the iPad in landscape mode. Do you think Steve Jobs: a) Doesn't like anything that reminds...

iCal Sync Issues With iPad And iPhone
First post
Last post
I was getting duplicate entries when syncing through MobileMe. The way I fixed it was to delete everything from everywhere and then add all the details back in on my MBP using iCal. Only then did it sync properly and has done ever since whichever device I use to add calendar items.

A rumour maybe...but a very strong rumour. As always with Apple though you never know what they are doing or thinking. They certainly wouldn't want to announce if they are having problems as this would affect their shares and tip their rivals who would no doubt have a field day with it.

AKAIA, at least for ipad1, you can either charge them or use them when connected via USB but not both at the same time. That would seem to be the situation with mine at least.

Do the Apple bumpers have a hard plastic backing at all? I've never seen one in the flesh? The official Bumper is just a plastic ring that covers the metal frame but leaves the whole of the glass on the front and back uncovered. I got one for free when there was the problems with reception a while...
