Contacts is not synchronising
First post

Dave - as I understand it... You sign in to YOUR iCloud on your wife's iPhone to sync the YOUR contacts. What do you do then? Do you sign out of your iCloud? Do you then sign into your wife's iCloud account on her iPhone? Does your wife have an iCloud account?

Cookies are very small and shouldn't slow you down much to regenerate new ones. And they are very useful to speed up things considerably. They are much more helpful than unhelpful - unless you are very paranoid. imo Cleaning them out is probably a very good thing to do where corruption has been...

Which compatible applications for reading books

I use Kindle in preference to Books. It works perfectly with lots of preferences. And importantly, it syncs with my MacBook. I mostly read on my phone (iPhone XR), but sometimes on my MacBook so this is quite handy. Lorimer

What about completely deleting your Mum as a contact and then adding her back again. Contacts may then sort out what is what for each service. I could try that if I find that I can't video even within the FT app. But for now that's a work round which is working for me.

Skype volume very low but not adjustable?
First post

It's kind of resolved (reinstalling Skype didn't make any difference). I Skyped but the volume was default low as before. However, this time the volume controls on the iPad worked. Why? It was the discovery of iPad's Settings / Sounds / Change with buttons , which affects the volume of ringers and...

I'd have to get someone to do that for her - she's not computer literate enough to deal with cloud services or Google docs. But it's not the end of the world as she's keeping the old Android tablet, for now at any rate.

It looks like the answer is NO. And since 2017 too. This Apple forum (which Apple have never responded to) confirms this problem... Lorimer

It's just that I was having a Monty-Python-moment: I pictured a phone ringing in that situation, and everyone reaching into their pockets - including the deceased :!: :o :P :D Hope I'm not offending. Not my intention. Monty Python: it was their intention.

I wondered the same thing. Sometimes minor updates are language specific so maybe we English speakers miss out on them. I checked Wikipedia and those were't issued. Not that Wiki is 100% reliable, but that is good enough for me.

Reboot the router. That can cure many odd gremlins. No problem with doing that, give it three or four minutes to get connected again but it should do it without difficulty and it will reset everything in the router. While it is starting up you will see red lights, orange lights, green lights...

It is completely hit and miss if it opens as a slide over or a split view. And it's completely hit and miss getting rid of it. Yes. You'd think Apple would make it much clearer how to invoke and dismiss these things.
