Ah, sorry, I only have an iPad - makes sense though, there's not the screen space to do the fanning out gesture on an iPhone, even a 6s plus!

Quite a handy to create a dock folder with your 10 last used applications. Make sure you don't have a comma at the end of the command though (like I did!), copied a character too far and spent half an hour working out why it wouldn't work Handy if you've been delving into other folders that are tucked away, or if you're going back and forth between apps etc. You can right click the folder and change the content too, so documents could be selected. I also inadvertently discovered that yo can have two folders, so you could have one of each should it take your fancy! I thought it was useful anyway.

I like that ^.
I presume that if I wish to undo it I can just bin it (remove from dock).

Nice idea, but I find Alfred does this better.

Apple Menu>Recent Items>Applications has been doing it for decades. But I see your point; I never use it, myself!!

++edit++ Not a good tip after all (see following post) but I'll leave it up anyway.
I just used the tip in the link below to make Game Center [sic] vanish from my iPhone. There's a few more crap icons that can also be hidden. Stocks, Weather and News just to name three. I know they are not deleted but hey, out of sight is the next best thing. Also I know some people use these Apps.

I saw a similar article to yours but it mentioned that a reboot causes them to appear again.

Back to the crap terminal hack defaults write com.apple.dock persistent-others -array-add '{"tile-data" = {"list-type" = 1;}; "tile-type" = "recents-tile";}'; killall DockI would assume that you could make a folder which contains recent documents as well: just change {"list-type" = 1;} to {"list-type" = 2;}(I'm just guessing of course, but then that's what experimentation is all about, innit?) I wonder if you could have both documents and applications in the same folder by making it: {"list-type" = 1;2;}- or perhaps {"list-type" = 1;} {"list-type" = 2;}Probably not. You will probably need two separate folders, one for each function. PS - in case you're wondering and are too afraid to try it yourself, "No" is the short answer. Changing 1 to 2 does not appear to make any difference - I just ended up with two "Recent Applications" folders. PPS - BUT! You just right-click on the folder and you have the option of selecting Documents! Just like that. You can also select Recent Servers or Favourite Volumes, as well "Favourite Items" - whatever they are. PPPS - Ah Ha! "Favourite Items" - appear to be recently accessed items, and include Applications, Folders, Pictures, Movies and Documents. Now that IS that something you can't do from the Apple Menu.

Something I've just discovered. You can use Quicktime X's New Movie Recording feature to import video from a miniDV camcorder and also live video as well.
Don't know if it works with the modern AVCHD camcorders though.
