The other day I got a notification window when opening MPEG Streamclip that told me it will be unsupported by the OS in future. I know it's 32bit and Apple is going all 64bit apps as it did with iOS. MPEG Streamclips' greatest features are its easy frame by frame editing coupled with its saving edits without re-encoding.

Can anyone suggest an alternative to it that does the same? Preferably OpenSource/Shareware but if I have to go with a commercial product it'll need to be cheap as all I use are those two features.

Cheers,
Neil H.

I'm open to correction on this, but if you keep an older OS on an external drive, you should be able to go on using Streamclip for a while. I think Leewave may be able to give more detailed info.

Or may just tell us I'm wrong ;)

I'm still running Streamclip on Yosemite with no problems.

Thanks for the replies Highmac and Leewave.

IIRC Mojave will be able to run 32-bit apps upon release, I can't remember where I heard that, though. For how long in Mojaves' life this will last is anyones guess. I'm not keen to have a separate partition to run Streamclip on as I have apps running 24/7 on my Mac for example iTunes Home Sharing.

While writing this reply I did find a site Alternativesto.net that had alternatives plus also I was able to find too. Not sure my requirements will be met but I'll have a look and keep searching. I don't mind if I have to pay a little bit but not ,like, £40 as some software demands.

Mojave is the last masOS to be able to run 32-bit apps, but in 'compromised' mode, is what I read. Quite what that means, I've not researched. I have nine 32-bit apps. Some are Apple's and should be updated. Others are like Steam, which I'd expect to get a re-write. The rest I can do without, like TextWrangler, if the devs cba to update them.
