You have to hope that it will but I didn’t want to buy one and only have access to 20% of my music.

I’ll either buy another Sonos or change to Bose.

Here you go then - http://www.techradar.com/news/this-sonos-deal-lets-you-buy-two-speakers-for-the-price-of-an-apple-homepod - they are the Alexa version as far as I can tell.

I won't be buying anything with Amazon or Google on it.

But you still cannot play music from your iTunes library without having to AirPlay it. For me, it would mean having to go into another room to choose which music I wanted to play every time I used HomePod. I know I could do it from my iPhone but I don't have all my music on it. The only place where it all resides is in my iTunes library on my iMac.

You should be able to use Siri to do it.

I'm still going through with it. I might regret it. I appreciate the restrictions Apple are building in.

I see you can play your own library as long as you upload it to iCloud. I assume, but don't know, that iTunes does this but the files end up on your iCloud, so me, I have just over 67GB of files and I bet that means I'd need to up my 5GB allowance for cash. Most of them will probably be in Apple Music, so that's OK but I do have a few albums that they don't appear to have licensed.

You can play your own music that you have bought from the iTunes Music Store. If you want to play the rest you have to subscribe to either Apple Music or iTunes Match, neither of which count against your iCloud limits.

I do sub to Apple Music - the annual cheap rate. I did not know i got included additional storage. I'll search on that later, thanks. As I've said before, I never bought any music from Apple. I only had that U2 thing donated.

I now get how it works. Thanks.

I was just wondering. When I say "hey Siri <command>", what's to stop the Watch or iPhone taking up the challenge over the Homepod? As it is, the two butt in on the other's territory, even when I have the Watch right in front of my pasty-hole. "Hey Siri" is too general a command. We should be able to individually rename devices and direct orders appropriately.

Watch doesn’t respond to Hey Siri. You have to press the Digital Crown to use Siri. It could clash with iPhone though.

On a different note, I bought a Bose SoundTouch 20 on Saturday. It’s great.
