Hi folks. It's been a while. Busy going away.

While I was away I did some more checking out and spoke to Apple about upgrading the RAM myself. Apple said that unless the RAM was installed by an Apple Authorised Service Provider it would invalidate the warranty. Their reasoning being that if something does go wrong with the machine they won't be able to tell if it was caused by me doing a bad install or by a manufacturing fault. While I do understand where they're coming from I don't get why they made a thing about the RAM being replaceable when you're not allowed to do it :x .

So I called an AASP and asked if they could fit some RAM if I bought it myself. They said they could get the RAM and Mac Mini then fit it cheaper than Apple so I'm going with that option. While not as cheap as doing it myself at least the warranty will be intact and it's still a little cheaper.

I've also decided to go with a smaller internal SSD and either boot from an external SSD or have the system on internal and data on the external.

So the breakdown is as follows

Mac Mini i7 3.2Ghz 32GB 256GB @ £1249 + VAT
Dell P2415q Display @ £299 + VAT
2TB SSD Lacie portable drive USB-c @ £449 + VAT
Logitech C920 HD Pro Webcam @ £48 Inc VAT

So that's £2444 instead of £2398.80 for a comparable iMac that comes with an older generation i7.

Macbiter,
yes, I could have made it a bit clearer that I meant a webcam.

Loughor,
I checked out the Dell deals but none of them were 4K.

There were way too many listed to go through so I didn't realise that. I just saw different sizes.
