There's a good article in today's Daily Mail 4th Jan on page 25 about the state of Apple. It should be read. Comments anyone?

spd34 pretty much sums up my feelings...
Quote:
In 2012 you could buy a macbook pro with user upgradeable storage, a disc drive, user upgradeable memory, multible USB ports, SD/memory card reader ports, lightining ports, and you could replace a dead battery at home on your own, A current gen Macbook pro will not only cost you more but you would need to spend a fortune in dongles to achieve the same level of utility and you still can't easily swap batteries/memory etc. at home. The iphone in the same period has lost the home button, the 3.5 head phone jack and their was a sneaky little trick done just after the 6s iteration where newer lightning 2 connectors are a couple microns too thin and will not work on older hardware despite essentially being the same connector. Under Tim Cook Apple devices have lost utility climbed in price and become much less consumer friendly, at the same time their competitors have improved dramatically to the point that Apple is often only offering parity at best and at an inflated price.

Is there an online page where we could read this?
Without paying of course

BD's quote spd34 sounds about right also. Apple has changed, and not for the better in many ways.
They should not always chase the highest prices even though they can. That just smacks of greed, they're already rich. Give a bit back please/

Have to agree with much of what the article says:

To have only one or two connection ports for everything is just crazy.

The article: So what has gone rotten at the heart of Apple?

I didn't realise it had become like this. I have not been closely following Apple's progress for a long time because I don't need the latest gadgets, but this does seem a bad way to go for Apple. I stopped watching WWDC a few years ago. I don't suppose Steve would have approved with what's happening here now.

I may need a new MacBook Pro! My trackpad hasn't worked for ages, I replaced it with a new one from China but it's still dead as a dodo trackpad-wise. I need a replacement 15-inch, Mid 2012 MacBook Pro, any offers? Or maybe get someone to fix it for me ;)

Sorry, can you resolve this logical impossibility?

Even allowing for journalistic hype and sensationalism, there's more than a grain of truth there. Apple need to look out for another Steve Jobs type before it's too late.

Oooch! A bit Hexpensive for a 6 yo computer - anyway I'm looking for the non-retina type (still get-innable). May live with what I have for now, there will be time to upgrade later :)

Maybe fix this one ... :D

You'd like us to be SERIOUS?

OK then...

The Daily Mail, owned by the Lords Rothermere since its founding in the late 19th Century, has...

• been overtly antisemitic in the Edwardian era
• published the fake Zinoviev letter to smear the Labour Party in the 1920s
• supported fascist Oswald Mosley's Blackshirts in the 30s
• has been consistently Europhobic supposedly "for Britain" but actually to protect its owners tax interests
• currently Islamophobic, anti-immigrant, anti-asylum seeker, anti-anything it can get away with if it boosts sales.

It is, and always has been, a poisonous rag.

Ah, your true colours, this is supposed to be a forum about all Mac/computer related posts.Who metioned serious? I refuse to make it into a political thread. I posted a GOOD ARTICLE in the wonderful DAILY MAIL about something I thought our people might find interesting. We live in the 21st century now, and things change and you have to change with them (you obviously don't). Currently the DAILY MAIL is number two in circulation numbers the Sun?????? being number one. A lot of people agree with what is printed or they would't read it. The Mail actually did an anti Mosley story about mid 2018 but you woun't have seen it. I'm a proud conservative, not impressed with the silly sods that are supposed to be your MPs. But soooooo much better than the Momentum Mob. Thank god I live in France. Please stick to the thread. MB. It would be good if we knew your reading RAG. Last post, get a life son.
