I have an external back-up disk which I've divided into three partitions for the back-ups from different computers. One of these partitions is now full so CCC can no longer back up to it. I want to Erase this partition and start again, but when I select 'Erase' with Disk Utility I get the message:
"Couldn't unmount disk, Operation failed"
I've checked the partition with DiskWarrior and all seems fine.
What's the way around this?
Thanks,
Lorimer

It could be that it needs to have all three partitions unmounted at once.
As an aside, could you just change the options for this backup in CCC to always maintain a certain amount of space, or to backup us less from that Mac?

Anndra,
Thanks for the thoughts. I have managed to wipe it now. Disk Utility has a tab 'Unmount'. That 'unmounted' the disk no problem. Having re-mounted it again, it was then possible to Erase it. CCC is now doing its job of cloning the MacBook once more. I do like to have a full clone if possible; it just makes life easier should I need to do a Restore sometime.
