My App Store doesn't work anymore, for reasons I've now forgotten. Is there any other method of getting Sierra?

Hi Gail,

This is Split&Concat which will stitch the files together into a disk-image of Sierra.
Open the zip and open S&C, https://we.tl/zQzCuCfKBI

File 1 https://we.tl/r90ri2Buiy

File 2 https://we.tl/AUOq0PbJNu

File 3 https://we.tl/yyGEywfgJS

Leave all three files on your desktop, now with S&C running double click on file 001 and and it will stitch all the files together and leave you with a disk-image of Mavericks

DOUBLE thanks for that!

I can't find Sierra on the App Store either, and as that's the OS I'm running on this machine AND a VM, I can't work out where it's gone...

If you create a new Admin user, log out & into the new account does the App Store work?

I think I did try that (there was an extra admin account on my computer which I couldn't account for when tidying yesterday - then I remembered the Apple guy suggesting I try that ... result, it still didn't work). I think it's something to do with the App Store not recognising my version of Mavericks, which I didn't get from the App Store, though weirdly it DID do the Combo and Security and Safari updates, and invited me to "upgrade" iTunes .. but nothing since.

I'm now trying the above Split & Concat method instead.

Damn - I've just noticed the contradiction - am I downloading Sierra or Mavericks? If it's Mavericks I will abandon it. Anyone got the same thing for Sierra?

Defcom did 3 postings. The last was for Sierra. He copied-and-pasted the last bit of text, leaving the word "Mavericks" unchanged. Defcom's bad.

That link is for Sierra.

Two days left! You'd better hurry up, otherwise you're going to have to ask defcom to do it all over again. :?

No need to panic, unless you enjoy doing it.
The Sierra installer is available online from Apple: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT208202

But McButter has explained that he can't get his App Store to work! We're all trying to work around these limitations! There are many things that are not working as they should. It's just a matter of getting around each one - each in turn.

I'm not panicking, but my head is now swimming - in the deep ocean. It's so relaxing and peaceful here ...
Fortunately I've got my super titan burger scuba-diving gear with me.

I did not have to sign in, in order to download the installer. So I think that it has nothing to do with "his" App Store.
And sorry for not having read everything that has been written in this thread.

Gail, You're fine. Nobody is complaining you haven't read the whole story. I'm just pointing out that MB has had some wrinkles on this long road. There are other threads in which he mentioned the App Store. Or maybe it was this one. I'm not sure now.

I've downloaded Sierra via the above links and used Concat to The Who 1972 them. I then moved the installer to an external HD and launched it check it was working - all ok. :)

Gail, you do have to sign in to App Store to use it (or at least, in order to "Get" something). Mine has repeatedly failed since I successfully updated my Mavericks install and all the Security and Apple Apps that went with it. Anything else, the download begins then immediately fails, before it has downloaded a single byte.

I could probably use my iPad but 1) where would I put the file? and 2) the App Store on iPad probably doesn't allow you to download Mac stuff.
