I have my friend's dying (Hard disk, I think).

I have managed to get all the data off and then we will open it up and have a recce. It was clicking and clunking away to itself for a while, but seems to have got over that now. But I know it is a just a window we have.

Meanwhile, my friend mentioned a film that he made and wanted but all I can find is the iMovie project with all its component parts.

When I upload this into the iMovie he has, it doesn't work - lots of black bits, won't play, won't export so I can't make him a quick copy of the film from the work he has already done.

His iMovie is 11'
His OS is 10.6.8
His computer is Macbook - white (early 2010?)
The film was made in June 2009

So....

I tried it on my Macbook Pro - OS Sierra
My iMovie - iMovie 08 - I seem to have lost my newer version - how do I get that back - I don't have my Applications backed up on Time Capsule.

but no joy - again it loads, gets stuck and won't play or export or anything.

Any ideas of how I can get a version of iMovie to get the film clips to load up a movie I can export?

Plus where can I find my up-to-date version of iMovie for my MBP?
