Having received a bin file which needs to be opened to extract a file to update the firmware in my car camera all I manage to achieve is a duplication of the original. Unarchiver does not work and Archive Utility just produce a copy of the original. It did extract once but nothing since. Thoughts would be appreciated

Think the camera needs to upload the firmware from the bin file, IE: bin file needs to be on a sd card and plugged in to the cam for it to see it.

whats the make and model of the cam.

Cheers Tony. I had viewed the video and my file download is a small brown bin file. The emails from Nextbase have been contradicting, one saying open the file one saying do not. All I get out of Archive utility is a duplicate of the original I Have put that in the SD card and tried it to no avail. I thought I would have extracted a file which is white with a zip half way down as in the video but no. The time is approaching to leave it with old firmware and go down the pub.

You do not extract the bin file leave as is, use the original you downloaded.
