After years of faultless FT my Dad cannot now see me during an FT call. I can see and hear him. He can hear me. I have no option to screen share. He is logged into iMessage and can receive and send messages.

However all is well using Skype. Sound and vision are perfect in Skype and I can screen share.
He has a Mac Mini 2013 running Mavericks. The FT version is 3.0. He connects to the internet via an Ethernet cable to a BT Hub.

I’ve tried calling him from two different iPhones and another Mac (running High Sierra) but FT won’t play nice on his Mac Mini.

Any ideas what else I might consider?

Are you sure he’s not using FaceTime Audio instead of video?

Yes. I checked that by him calling me and then me calling him. FT wasn’t giving the option of video - like something has been turned off somewhere.

If he cant see you sounds like its your end.

Try rebooting your router.

The iPhones wouldn't be using the router, so the problem's not at his end?

If they are using wireless(on the same router) then they would.

Sounds to me like the problem is at your end, davesoa, in that FaceTime is not recognising the video input from your webcam in your MBPro.

Interesting point except I used my iPhone on 4G and Dad couldn't see me and the other iPhone was using a wireless network in the States. I've now tried another Mac (using my network) and he still can't see the caller. As I say, all is well with Skype so it's got to be a FT issue and I'm convinced its at his end. As my Dad is 91 I think the phrase 'reboot your router' will be lost on him, and I live some distance away. I'll see if I can get a passing friend to pull the BT power cable out then plug it back in.

Maybe your dad has (accidentally) blocked you as a Facetime caller?

That’s a very good point. However he would have had to block me, my sister and the other person who called him (and had not called before). Unless he’s blocked all video of course. I’ll check that one out.

The Mac is on High Sierra, are the phones on the latest OS? If so, that may be the problem! My iPhone 6 on the latest iOS is DREADFUL on FaceTime. My ancient iPad on iOS I-can't-remember is faultless.

I wonder if that’s it. Both iPhones are on the latest iOS. I haven’t tried an older iPad. Stand by. Well not exactly stand by as I need to track down an older iPad to call him on.
