Yep, Safari froze on my iPad. :o I couldn't use it to find out what to do so I downloaded Firefox from the App Store, which advised me to delete all Cookies, History and Web data then restart the iPad. I got a warning when about to delete the above, that this would delete the same on any devices logged into iCloud, which Safari on my Mac is.

Bricking it slightly I duplicated the Safari folder on the Mac before launching it, in case I needed all my stored data. However, everything was as I left it, including History, so I think that Apple warning was a bit of a lie!

Still, all's well... :)

Why didn’t you just force quit Safari on your iPad?

I didn't think of that! Should have done that.

Yes, though Safari wasn't running at the time on the Mac, it always launches with all the windows and tabs from the previous session, one of which is iCloud (I stay logged in to avoid 2FA). I was worried in case having deleted all its web history on the iPad that that state would sync with Safari on the Mac when launched. Luckily it didn't.

OK... just musing, but at one time frozen Safari would've likely meant a trek across Antarctica.
