I have an old iPhone and an old iPod; they both run iOS version 6+. My version of iTunes, however, is the latest – whatever the heck it is.

In my Contacts, I have created many groups. In the past, I have been able to select groups to be synced to either of these devices. I seem to no longer be able to do this. I can't select "Selected groups"; it is not available. There are no groups shown.

If there are people who have groups created in Contacts, can you please confirm that you can still select individual groups to be synced?
I'm thinking that my old version of iOS and the newest version of iTunes don't play well together.

After four months - and just having bought a new phone - I've figured it out.

It has nothing to do with any version of any thing.

After selecting "All contacts", one must click on "Sync" in the bottom right of the window (not shown in my screenshot). Synching of the contacts doesn't happen at that point, but the greyed-out "Selected groups" becomes active - and the groups themselves magically appear.
They can then be individually selected.
