What reader do you use? And does it read all kinds of codes, or are several readers needed in order to read all the types of codes?
And why, Daddy, doesn't the iPhone come with a reader installed?

When I had a reader on my iPhone, it was QR Reader from TapMedia Ltd. It read all codes it was pointed at. Eventually, the novelty wore off and I stopped using it so it got deleted. If I need it, I know where it is.

What glowing reports for QR-readers!! Thanks, guys. (You both pointed to the same app, by the way.)

Aren't QR codes dead?

I think they use them for boarding passes.

Chris, No. One reason that I asked the question was that our local telephone books arrived today - with these square codes on them, enabling people to download the book to a phone. With a QR-reader.
It's all new to me, however - since I'm just learning the ins-and-outs of a (new) smartphone.
Tony, Yes, electronic boarding passes are QR-code based.

As I haven't flown since 2006 and boarding passes were actually paper then, I didn't know about QR versions.
Can't say that I've used one for at least four years that's why I thought they had died.

Even when one chooses to print a boarding pass, it contains the QR-code graphic. That's what is read at the check-in counter.
