Quite often at night, when I place my watch on charge, it remains illuminated at full brightness, showing the time. Now that can be quite useful, except it is so bright (& it annoys my wife). I need to disconnect and reconnect it for the watch to go to sleep. Is this likely to harm the watch, and does anyone else have this behaviour?

No, mine does that briefly then goes dark. If I eant to see the time I nudge the table and the green clock comes up for a short while, then goes off.
In the iPhone Watch app - General > Nightstand Mode = on
The watch must be on it's side and upright.
--edit-- There's also Nightstand Mode on the watch, under Settings > General, if that is easier.

Yes, my settings are all as you suggest. The Nightstand mode works fine except about 50% of the time, the watch remains illuminated once it is on charge – all night if I give it the chance. Does this matter; does anyone else experience this?

Could there be a vibration where the watch is sitting causing it to be awake?
It could possibly overheat I suppose?

It may be worth turning Nightstand mode off and seeing if the screen illuminates at night.
If it does, it could point to another problem.
