For those of you who care (I don't), something called Google Assistant - a Siri-like thingie - can be used on an iPhone.

Here is a comparison of the two DAs.

Also available in the App Store - Cortana, if you like Microsoft and want your searches done through the rubbish-named Bing!

I have enough trouble getting the courage to "hey Siri" let alone anything else. I'm not sure I'd want one of the always-listening hardware gadgets either.

Google Assistant will require access to all your browsing and purchase history is it's anything like the Google Home thing.

Does anybody really talk to their tech ? Yes a lot of us probably give these voice assistants a go and then give up on them when we realise they are not reliable enough yet.

Yup. Alexa runs my house now, so I speak to Siri less these days.

My wife runs my house, so I have no need to speak to any of these gals.

I still imagine Siri as depicted in The Big Bang Theory.

I don't talk to her/him. I should try it really. It is active on some of my kit. If I didn't have loads of Sonos I'd be thinking of the Homepod.

Im on antibiotics, so when I took one I asked siri to remind me to take my meds in 4 hours. Also when I make a doctor/dentist appointment, I always tell siri to make it in my calendars.
