On a Mac it's so easy! Select an item in a list, hold Shift, then select another item further down. Everything in between will be selected.
Surely, there MUST be a way to do this in iOS? I mean, it's so basic, so necessary at times.
The main reason I need to do this is because I cannot restrict email downloads on my iPad. My main use of the email client is my Mac where I keep loads of stuff. On my iPad I just want - e.g. - today's and yesterday's, but there's no way to restrict the number of emails downloaded.
So the next best thing is a mass select of unwanted emails in list view by using something akin to Shift-select, then delete them all. But no, I have to select each one individually in Edit mode, then delete them. With hundreds of emails, this is a total PITA.
There must be a way to do this? What have I missed?

#MeToo
Is it possible to select them all, and then de-select (individually!) the ones which are to remain?

That procedure still has one individually selecting messages: "Tap on all the messages you want to move or delete."
