Compared to my 2017 iPad, my new iPad Air has very low Skype volume (i.e. sound coming in : 3rd party reports no change in my microphone level). Adjusting the iPad speaker volume makes no difference. Today I had to use the old iPad where the volume is satisfactory, though also not adjustable.

How on earth do I adjust the volume of Skype? It seems ABSURD that you can't adjust its output using the iPad's own volume controls.

It's kind of resolved (reinstalling Skype didn't make any difference).

I Skyped but the volume was default low as before. However, this time the volume controls on the iPad worked. Why? It was the discovery of iPad's Settings / Sounds / Change with buttons, which affects the volume of ringers and alerts, and defaults to 'Off'. I switched it 'On' and it seems this setting functions in Skype too. The bummer is that Skype's default volume is still low, which means I'm going to have to increase the volume using the iPad controls each time I make a call.

I've checked on the old iPad and this setting is - & always has been - 'Off', but because the default Skype volume was fine, I never needed to change it.
