Strangely, my iPad offered me 13.7 (which I took) but not 14.

Thank you. I wasn't really satisfied with the original answer, but decided not to pursue it.

I'm enjoying (translation: taking advantage of) the new widgets, and their placement on the Home screens.
Apple, however has trashed the one widget that I used to use: the phone.app widget that would hold my top 8 favorite phone numbers.

We already have iOS/iPadOS/TVOS 14.0.1 and WatchOS 7.0.1, which isn't really a surprise.

I did have a problem post-update on my iPad. The system widget things on the left of the screen were not showing but the Hue app one was. I tried restarting, changing screen orientation then re-adding but to no avail. Eventually, after prolonged random pulling and poking with a finger, they popped back. I have no idea what I did. All's well etc.
--edit-- I spotted a spelling mistake.

I also had a couple of niggles following this update. Nothing, however, that a good, solid stare-down couldn't handle - which made the devices snap to attention, and quit their foolish behaviour. Authority, used discriminately, is a powerful weapon.

Syncing what, if I may ask?
I just noticed it reset the incoming ring tone from what I selected to what it likes ('opening' I think it was called).

If it's syncing with iTunes then it should be no surprise given that it's been superseded by Music. You know what Apple are like when it comes to 'ancient' software.

You may. I use iTunes to sync information from my computer to my iDevices: Calendar Contacts Podcasts Music File Sharing ,,, I have never had an issue with this process. Only since the update to 14.0.1 has it become impossible or randomly failing. The iTunes Summary tab: First this (never had to ”wait” before): then this: @Johah. If that is the case, I'm very unhappy. As I've said, it has worked until now. I have no MacOS Music.app. I am on Sierra.

Sorry I can't help but glad I asked.
I let iCloud sync Calendar, Contacts, Mail etc. It doesn't take more than a few MB and no effort. I pay for Music so that all syncs with zero overhead - not a palatable solution to many.
I did perform a quick search and saw mention of an iTunes compatibility update on Sierra but only that it was offered, not sought out. Good luck getting it sorted. You could always try Apple Support. Mostly they are good. The last query I made was intercepted by someone dumb as custard. I'll ask again in a month and someone else will pick it up.

Somehow I've always managed without sync'ing (via iTunes or anything else). Any documents I want both on my Mac and iPad I put on iCloud. Any photos from the iPad I also want on the Mac, I download from iCloud - but that's almost never, as I can login to iCloud on the Mac and view the photos in the browser.
When it comes to apps, most of them are iPad-specific such as BBC iPlayer and Sounds, YouTube, banking, Netflix, etc - all of which I access via a browser on the Mac.

I posted in HomePod that iOS 14.1 was out. It hadn't clicked that it was TV, phone and pad too because it is Siri getting allegedly more tricks so I should have realised.
