Standard of refereeing at this World Cup has been poor overall.
17 yellows and a red card during Netherlands v Argentina says to me that the referee lost control of the game.

This thing - IF they are found guilty, I hope they get a huge fine and kicked out of the PL and EFL. Time will tell.

They will have the absolute best lawyers on the case. I doubt they will be expelled.

Of course. I can but hope. I also hoped Wrexham would win but that didn't come to pass.

That Grealish fellow is skilled at diving and making it look like a foul. Really really good. Well sometimes it is a foul, of course, but today you can see on the replays that there is little to no contact. It is great when he's playing for England (if you support England as I do, that is) but not so much when watching league games as a neutral.
Feel welcome to disagree.

...and another thing - when a goal is scored, it is described as the ball hitting the "back of the net". Surely the back of the net is the part facing the crowd so the ball must hit the front of the net

The net is situated at the back of the goal so hence ‘back of the net’ - whether that is correct is entirely down to your own interpretation…

I'm watching a match and one player is called Ince. It occurred to me, and I tested the theory, if you say his surname out loud, repeatedly and quickly, you are kind of beat boxing

I'm pleased for Wrexham going up as champions. I expect Notts County will be following but I am often wrong predicting these things.

Congrats to Tottenham: Tottenham Hotspur players are reimbursing fans who made the trip to Newcastle to see their team go 5-0 down in the first 20 minutes of the match.

They shouldn't be reimbursing fans. Sometimes your team is wonderful, sometimes woeful. If you are a supporter, you take the rough with the smooth. I've seen enough dross down at Molineux over the years to be a very rich man if they gave me my money back every time.

In its uniqueness, I found it a lovely gesture. Especially when it seems that the players themselves are absorbing the cost. Yes, they can afford it. But… A top-team being asleep-at-the-wheel and apologizing for it? I say ”Good for them”.

Wolves beating Villa today pretty much guarantees them not being relegated. Thankfully.
