So glad to hear they are going to have to rebuild the pub. They should be prosecuted under H&S as well as the video shows they didn't cordon off the area properly. Actually find anything they could be done for to teach them and anyone else that you can't do that sort of thing. I'd be up for the piss-up. As long as they make the exact copy of the 1920's pub fully wheelchair accessible. Widened electric doors, ramps, lowered bar, disabled toilet and if there's an upstairs area a lift

Not stupid, more angry.... Bloody motor insurance companies! Our last car (Golf) was damaged (got scratched with a stone quite considerably). We called the insurance company to enquire about claiming: they recorded the incident, took the details etc. We never had to claim in the end, the party that was at fault (it was at a behaviour school) paid for the damages, we never had to proceed with a claim. That was Feb 2014 towards the end of the old policy. Fast forward to today, got an email. Basically, they're putting up our insurance nearly £10 a month because the car was involved in an 'incident'. We never claimed, the car was unoccupied, it was parked on the road. But because it was involved in an 'incident' they have to put the insurance up. So bloody angry right now: they've already put our insurance up £5 a month, another £10 on top of that is absolutely disgusting! If we'd made a claim, fair enough: but we didn't! The woman argument on the phone was 'well, you could have made a claim'. Yes, we could, but we didn't! Does that one-off incident, which you didn't have to pay out for, that didn't involve either of us, that was paid for by someone else mean we are now suddenly more at risk??! We don't even have that car anymore! And if that is the case, we've just started our second year with you, so why didn't you raise the same issue when we took the ruddy policy out last April! God insurance companies really p*ss me off.... Rant over.

Cancel the policy, move it to another company.

Well, I don't see how they can use it against me to be honest. When filling out the quote online, they ask you three things (which must have happened within the last 5 years):
1) Have you been involved in any accidents? 2) Have you made any claims on your insurance? 3) Have you had any total losses?
Well, the answer to all of those is no.
1) It wasn't a motoring accident, the car was parked and it was damaged. 2) We reported the incident to our insurers, but we never made a claim as it was paid for. 3) The car wasn't written off.
...so how they can try and charge us extra is beyond me. We can get the same cover for £35 a month elsewhere. We were very angry and are subsequently waiting for a call back from one of the managers.

Vote with your feet. I swap insurance providers almost every year to get the best price. And yes, they're all unscrupulous b@stards that will use any excuse they can think of to prise more money out of their victims, sorry, customers!

Insurance companies aren't rich for no reason... same thing happened with my biz insurance, was broken into, looked into filing a claim but did not due to the deductibles on every thing, not just one deductible, then the impossibility of showing them all the stuff that was taken... well... they doubled the cost of insurance for not filing a claim!

I tend to go with this policy if it's under £600 then I pay and don't inform the insurance. I also generally wait till I'm due to renew my car which is every three years, asses what needs to be done and get the worst bits repaired.

"Anything you say can and will be used against you"....
They note everything you ask them about your policy on your account and it never gets forgotten.

Well, that was easier than expected. Had a voicemail from the complaints department this morning. Called them back when I got in, had all my notes and paperwork ready to give them some hassle, and the guy wrote of the increase and our policy is staying the same. Bonus.
He was very apologetic, I had to say hardly anything-job done. What is annoying is that we were really wound up about it last night, and it kinda' spoiled the evening-but at least we're back down to what we were paying.
