Just heard Taylor Swift and Katy Perry whilst waiting in Asda. Shame there wasn't a video playing.

For the past seven hours I have been listening to some rather bad street musicians who are playing directly across the street from my shop. It is one of those "if you can't play good— play loud" sort of bands. Thankfully they don't sing much, which is worse.

Makes me especially glad it is quittin time.

Nancy

Here's another oddball direction for you.

This guy was blinded by a railway warning explosive he was playing with as a teenager, and later became an eccentric artist, sometime living in New York in the 60's. He made music and performance art and one fabulous album that I know of, the tracks here are from it. I had a reel to reel tape recording of the album I made a long time ago in my youth and have since made a copy for the computer, but it is a rare album.

These are two tracks from it, it's a pity youtube doesn't have Minisym # 1 or the Witch of Endor, both are brilliant (if you like that sort of thing!).

Someones comment from the youtube page.
Quote:
I was a boy about 10 in the 60's; my mom and I were walking from the Museum of Modern Art in NYC towards the Port Authority in Midtown and she said, "Look, there's Moondog!" Here was this tall, old blind guy with a huge beard like a scruffy Merlin in leather gerkin and heavy cape, holding a big wizard's staff which I guess he used as a guide stick. He must have been selling albums, vinyl in those days, because I don't remember seeing any instruments, and we had his album ever since.

Moondog - Stamping Ground

Moondog - Lament I, "Bird's Lament"

Ahhh ...
I found some more!

Moondog (Louis Hardin) - Symphonique #6 (Good for Goodie)

Moondog - Minisym #1

Moondog - Witch of Endor
