Doesn't seem much point getting a BlueRay player with a SCART if I am not going to get the best from it. I think I am going to opt for a cheap DVD player and wait for a bit to upgrade the whole set-up. I am probably going to be moving around a bit over the next year or two with lots of changes of work location, so will wait until settled for a good excuse to buy a 3D set up

14 year old TV, is it a 29" TV (IIRC CRT only went up to about 32" wide screen). You can get a 32" full 1080 HD LCD for around £250 these days, add the £58 Phillips BluRay and you have a full HD set up for a tad over £300.

Plus, you say you're going to be moving about a bit in the next year or two, well a big, hefty old CRT is going to be a lot harder to move around with you than an LCD TV, which are relatively light in comparison to the CRT back-breakers are!!
