Still not 100% sure that I'm leaving BT Fibre for Virgin. My BT connection since being on fibre has been my most reliable connection I have ever had as well as being super fast. I would save money on VM and they do get higher speeds but I'm told they throttle your speeds down if you use it too much in peak times. Whats the point of the higher speeds ?

I've been throttled once. That was when I downloaded 2 OSX updates, 4 iOS updates and loads of iOS app updates in the space of a couple of hours. It lasted for about 6 hours, speeds when from 60Mb to 30Mb if I remember correctly. That was at least a couple of years ago.
I read an article the other day that throttling was now illegal.

Throttled to 30Mbps! I'd be happy with half that speed anytime!

I was talking to a VM salesman today in a shopping centre. He admitted they slow you down at peak times if they judge you to be downloading too much. He said it was mainly students who just leave their computers downloading all day I said I have Netflix, Amazon video streaming HD and he didn't seem to know if that would be too much

I really wouldn't worry about it. Like I've said, I've been throttled once and I work from home and always download during the day.

I could have the 152Mb service but I don't want to pay even more than I do at the moment.

I think I need to speak to 'lack of customer services' at Virgin as I pay a lot more than that.

I was quite happy with Virgin. 18 months ago I called customer services and said that I'd been with them for many years, but it appeared that I could get a better deal elsewhere. Without asking they gave me a 25% discount.

I thought I'd throw mine in to be sociable. It sometimes gives higher but as long as I get the advertised speed, I'm happy.
