I hope we are not going to loose the splendid long running unique regular updates from our friend Frances in the frozen wasteland of the Shetlands.
I enjoy her ongoing tale of braving the elements and living with semi-wild beasts.
And the stuff about her horses too.

There is no reason why you cannot book mark the site to read?

Frances is a long standing regular Mac user on the board.
Seems a small thing to allow her to offer her blog up here.
But, if it has to go.....
EDIT: I recall Frances back at MacFormatForum asking for advice and here too, regarding her Macs - She seemed the only Mac user in the Shetlands, presumably her blog is administered via her Mac.
It would be a shame to loose it, as she is a Mac nut and has a home here.

Long standing yes, but very little posts other than the Shetland posts which have been here for a very long time. I'm gauging if members use the posts or not. That's all.

A couple of years ago, I (finally) looked at her blog. I liked what I saw, but have never gone back to it. It seems to me that people interested in her blog can - as you say - bookmark it for themselves. I don't really see her (Shetland) posts as "contributions" to the forum. But then, again, neither are most of mine On the other hand, we have such beloved topics as: What are you drinking... A tough call for you and the new guy, Jonah.

My question for the whale - aka Tony - is: What are you drinking?

I'm drinking mainly gin or scotch at the moment.

Come on folks... This is nuts, Frances, a fellow member, posts a perfectly innocuous link to her blog to share her experience and there's an 'issue' about her 'contributions' to The Couch. Be honest, we wouldn't know about her blog but for this link and its easily ignored if you can't stand it. Don't you feel its a rather delightful and off beat little addition - one that complements the range of interests the M4M membership have? Great start to the New Year - 'Don't want your posts.'

Hang on, I've not said this at all, just testing the water - seeing if members value the posts or not, no more, no less.

What's the point of that?
Anyway the poll asks if people read them, not 'value' them. 6883 views on last years thread at time of this post.
I can't see the sense in singling out one members regular, if unconventional posts for questioning.
What's your thoughts Frances?

Ok, reading them then. The "read" count goes up if you mark as read, as well as actually reading the thread. I am interested to to know if members read the posts to know if there is a point to the daily posts being made on a forum that is a million miles away from the subject matter. My feeling is these posts are only made here to boost incoming links to the site. It used to be a known method to gain validity/help with Google ranking (it may or may not be now). As the admin/owner of this site I feel I am quite justified in finding out if members are reading the daily posts or not. I do not wish to have an argument about singling out or that posts are not wanted. That is just putting words into my mouth that I have not said or implied.

I never open or read the thread but I always have to mark the complete "Couch" forum as read so I can see if new posts have been made. That will push the "read" count up without the thread actually being read.
