My son, early 20s, tells me he loved a movie when he was a child with a plot, possibly, as follows. I have no recollection of this. Perhaps it was so dire I've expunged it from my memory. Anyone recogise it?
Animation
Possibly made pre 1990
Orphan boy with horse friend.
There's a dancing bear in chains at some point.
Perhaps set in the Middle East in total or partly.
I've searched google and IMDb but nothing seems to have a plot line like that.

Disney? A US film or European film? Russian? Voice sound track or just music? Language? Subtitles?
Did he see it on TV or in a cinema?
I don't think I've ever seen it, so one is fumbling in the dark somewhat.

The description is that given to me by the witness, my son, who says he can't remember anything else. Which is not helpful. Not Disney as I've checked those, could be a Japanese animation but I can't see any similar plot in databases, says he saw it on TV or possibly DVD/video. Soundtrack but doesn't think it had songs. As for the bear, to mix metaphors, that could be a red herring. My view not his.
