Okay: I know that I'm new here, and, therefore, wasn't invited to the party. I get it. No hard feelings. There are usually like 3-10 users online at any given moment - give or take. If it wasn't an online party, can sometime explain what happened just two weeks ago that garnered such activity? I am certainly feeling that I missed something. (Or was I online, too? ) Did the UK leave the EU without my noticing?

Spambots?
If it was a party then I wasn't invited either, but my kids tell me I smell, so I can see why.

I think loughor has it. I think the big number there was because spammers noticed a new domain being registered. Even when it's a small number like 10 or 11, a couple will be Google & other search bots. OOPs, I was thinking of a different forum! :O

Was there an Apple event around this time?

England beat Kosovo the day before, Nov 17th, 4 - 0
Possibly people were browsing the Football Thread for interesting insights.

Or, members whose Keychain Access was mucked up and they couldn't log in.

I keep not getting invited to parties. But this party: "Most users ever online was 274 on Thu Jan 16, 2020" only recently happened. C'mon What did I miss

I think I would have been active at this time. I usually login around lunchtimes at work to see what is going on.

It seems that these online "parties" are not at all memorable! What seems strange is that, sometimes, days go by without a single post to any of the forums. And yet, almost 300 people can be online at the same time. Strange.

I mentioned this before, I think.
But on the MacFormatForum, (from where we all have come) a quality member, by the name of woodmanstar, suggested that everyone all log in on 'Big Wednesday' .. at least I think he called it that.
We had at least 200+ real users - genuine log in's.
I for one am up for another go.

I suppose one could go though the Members list ^ see when they ere last logged it, my site has many/most users that just view & do not post.

Would you do that for me? I'm not interested in who was online, but why so many at once. It seems that nothing memorable actually happened.

Perhaps this will illustrate it...
A large number of people leaving at random times from random distances will arrive in clusters.
