Bought an Amazon Fire Stick 4k.
Didn’t realise it came with Alexa Voice Remote control.
We don’t have Alexa.
Before we open it or send it back (self isolating so not straight forward).
Can we still use it without Alexa?
and
If we keep it, it seems we have to join Amazon Prime. Is that right (have an Amazon account without Prime)?
Thanks for your help.

You need an Amazon account but not Amazon Prime. You won’t get as much content free without Prime.
The Alexa voice control is not linked to having an Echo device.
This may help

It's set up, OH is happy, played 'Lady in Red' so everything fine. In hindsight it was fairly easy, had a couple of wobbles not being sure what to do next.
Guardian article was useful, it re-assured us. We joined Prime. Family with nine year old granddaughter came for a garden visit. Shame, as she could've set it up for us!
Thanks Jonah.

Glad you are sorted. Sometimes things aren’t as complicated as they seem.

We’ve started to get used to it, OH has learnt to be polite, Alexa doesn’t do please and thank you apparently. (Grumpy old man wonders about kids language skills!). To us the software appears awesome, when it works! A couple of times we’ve had to go back to Settings in the tele. Maybe OH inadvertently presses the wrong button to start - no panic here, we’ll wait and see.
