I've just watched the Apple Event showing the new iPhone. I think it needs a new name. Not once during the presentation was there any mention of making or receiving calls.

I don't think kids know what a 'phone is, especially a landline. It is all texts, Friendface, Twatter, Pokemon go and emails for them. Gawd knows what the kids yet-to-be-born will be doing in thirty years. I won't be here to see it.

I was curious. Apple offered me £420 trade-in for my 11 against a 12. I was almost tempted. I'm a sucker.

You shouldn’t be surprised but making telephone calls is something an awful lot of people don’t want to do on a mobile phone.
On Twitter, I see lots of people complaining that someone has rang them after receiving a text message instead of replying by text or that someone left them a voicemail and they don’t want to use voicemail.

I don't use mobile voicemail so I have it turned off. That's how to not use it. How daft do you need to be not to realise that? Or do they fear missing out so leave it on?

I always use the Phone app to make calls. When you tariff has unlimited minutes you may as well.
I will accept calls on WhatsApp from clients if they want to use it but don't use it for outward calls myself. I have a client in France who uses WhatsApp as it is cheaper for her than to call via normal means.
