I use a Bluetooth alu. keyboard with my Mac Mini. Some time ago I "cleaned" it with a light solution of Fairy liquid and tap water because the keys were getting slightly grubby. I was very careful not to splash anything into it. I turned it upside down and then rubbed it onto a lightly moistened kitchen towel. I got the keys clean. I also lost the volume down key, and the - p ; ? keys. The f is now an ƒ. The left option key is no longer an option. The keyboard will occasionally throw an epileptic fit with spurious keys firing off like a and the volume mute going rapidly off and on - it causes no end of havoc to whatever is happening at the time. I've been getting by with this for some while now. I made a list of the missing keys and saved it as a Textedit document which I keep in the Dock for handy reference, so that I can cut and paste my way back to semi-sanity. But I have decided the time has come to get another keyboard. Since I already have a USB extension which I'm using for my lovely and accurate Saitek scrollwheel mouse on a handy cushion on the sofa, I plan to add a mini hub and get a wired keyboard from somewhere. I wonder if anyone has an old spare keyboard floating about? Leewave of Lala land.

Thanks everybody, I've been looking on ebay and there are a few current auctions running. But they often go for silly prices, I think people get bidding fever sometimes and lose grip on value! Sue, I have looked in CEX now that you mention it (I've never considered them before) and there are some options there too. I particularly like the small alu. one A1242 I'm waiting for an ebay auction to run which finishes this afternoon, I'm bidding on one there. But I expect it will end up going for more than CEX are selling theirs for although it is almost new. James, thanks a lot, I'll pm you. EDIT: I've ordered one from CEX now, since the ebay I'm looking at has just become more expensive than theirs. (I just hope the one I get is not too scruffy!) Thanks all.

Bit late now but have you tried leaving it in the airing cupboard for a day or two? You could also use the rice trick, pop it in a plastic bag and pop in a few cup fulls of dry rice, then place somewhere warm. The rice draws out any moisture. And next time, stick to alcohol cleaning wipes

New-ish (well, second hand) Apple Wired Keyboard (3rd Gen A1242) from CeX, bought on Saturday, posted half an hour later, arrived in the post today (Tuesday). It was smothered in bubblewrap inside a large jiffy bag, pretty clean and all the keys are working, as advertised (sold as tested).
Very pleased with CeX.

I bought a bluetooth mouse from CEX and it was in mint condition and came with a 12 month warranty just like your keyboard will have done.
