Bit of a long shot, but does anyone have a working Zip Drive knocking about that they no longer want? Mine, after years of sterling service, seems to have gone kaput...leaving me with stuff on discs that I can no longer access! I really wish I'd put into action my plan to transfer all the stuff onto a hard drive!
Thanks in advance!

I'm pretty sure I have an external USB Zip drive knocking about, I will see if I can dig it out.

Simon.

Simon, that would be fantastic if you can find it. Thanks so much for replying.

No USB model here. I've only got an external SCSI one and an internal one on my G4.

Thanks anyway. I'm not sure how a SCSI model would hook up to an iMac?! Otherwise I might have taken it off your hands!

I've just had a dig through various boxes, found the drive and gave it a quick test on the Mac and all seems fine. It's a Zip 250 but I've tested it with 100MB and 250MB disks and it reads and writes to both reliably.

Here it is:

I also found a SCSI version, but looks like it's the USB one you need.

If you drop me your address via PM, I'll get it in the post.

MB Surely? (Mega-Bytes) not Mega-bits or milli-bits. Makes a difference. But then everybody knows what everybody means, don't they? Not always :( it just gets harder to interpret. In abbreviations, capitalisation counts.

Picky, picky, picky! Well - sloppy, sloppy, sloppy!

Glad you'll get your Zip Drive, Lincoln! Now back up, back up! (I guess that's the plan anyway :-))

Yes I know, I'm way too pedantic about things. Sorry about that. Happy Christmas everybody!

Merry Christmas to you all.
What a great forum this is! Thanks to Crossed-Ups generosity I shall be able to access my discs and definitely back up to a more modern media!

The drive went off in the post this morning, so should be on its way to Lincoln over the festivities.

This was also a chance for me to check some zip disks I had lying around too and found some Pics from a Boston trip in 2001 I had lost

Merry Christmas!
