It describes itself on the backplate as 2000, M2453 and "i am made in Taiwan".
It's charcoal/silver, and I think, has 64 mb RAM and a 6.0gb hard drive.
It starts up, but I guess the "?" on the screen means there's no O.S. Also, the hard drive makes a continuous ticking sound which doesn't sound very healthy.

Any suggestions or anyone interested?

Thanks,

Lorimer

I can confirm that 'ticking' sound is a dead Hard Drive.

It certainly was on my PowerBook G4 PPC - So, if you have a bit of time and can find a replacement HD, you could swap it out:

I suspect it's not really an option tho'

Unless you fancy a Christmas project to keep you busy and out of the kitchen next month :)

...the G4 was fairly straightforward to be honest

Jezza,

Thanks for your thoughts. I see that fully serviceable Clamshells are only going for £2-300 on eBay so the work is clearly not worth it. I guess it'll have to go for 'recycling' at our local tip, where previous ancient white MacBooks have gone.

ah, shame to see a Mac go to the great tip in the sky - It did look a bit of a palaver to swap the HD tho'

You might be able to boot from an external HD if you have an OS disc - Probably OS9

Again, a labour of love.

Cheers!
