Theres a new jailbreak for all the latest iOS devices. It at http://limera1n.com/ Unfortunately, its on windows at the moment. I'm still on the first iPhone, so still on 3.1.2.

There is also which was the first iOS 4.1 Jailbreak both for Mac & PC, but it was delayed when Limera1n was released. I think they are incorporating the Limera1n hack before it will be released.

I think they only want one jailbreak at a time. Its a waste of time having 2 or 3, then Apple close them all at once. This way when one is closed the others can be released one at a time.

Yeah, I can see their point, but it would be nice to have to have one that works on Mac though.

I'm so glad I don't have to jailbreak my iPhone to get it unlocked, after o2 officially unlocked it after I asked them to. I'm now running an official unlocked iPhone 3Gs on Orange, only until June 2011 and then I'll be moving to a HTC Android device

Greenpois0n is now going to use the same exploit as Limera1n so there will only be one out in the open. They both claim to be unpatchable though as they exploit bugs in the startup ROM and so the only way for Apple to block it is to change the ROM which may not be until the next gen.
I've just seem that Greenpois0n has been released for Linux now so I may give that a go. I've had a Jailbroken iPod Touch before but this is my first iPhone. Is there anything I should know before I try jailbreaking it?

Is there still any serious reason why anyone would want to Jailbreak an i phone ?

the best reason to jailbreak is so that when some smartarse blackberry or android user comes up and says ' iphone is crap and it's stupidly locked by apple you can't even do blah blah' you can reply 'actually mine is jailbroken so I can do what I want you ignorant **** *** etc.'
