Companies have said prices are being increased due to the downturn in Sterling. It's tanked since the referendum result. But whatever you may or may not think about that fact, the UK has always paid more than the US for iPhones. iPhone 8 and X just follows that.

I know that, we have always paid more than most for our products cars, electronic etc even before the pound tanked. Just didn't want this thread to become political.

I'm planning to move to the iPhone SE because I like the smaller size, but it's frustrating that the 64gb has been dropped. It's now either the 32 or the 128gb. Thinking ahead over a 2-year contract period, 32gb is dangerously small even though I download hardly any music (lots of pics though), and 128gb unnecessarily large.

As before, I’m tied in for another 18 months or so on my 6s, but I’m ok with that. I had envisaged going to a plus model next as since I parted company with my iPad Mini and the camera being pretty decent, but the X does look awesome (and I really don’t mind the notch because the tech it’s housing is incredible). I can only imagine what it would cost per month though, so I’m happy to sit and watch the phone evolve and see what’s available when it’s ‘that time’.

Seems to be some discussion here about the cost in the US. The US Apple site shows "iPhone X 5.8-inch display* From $49.91/mo. with the iPhone Upgrade Program.1 Or pay in full from $999." NOTE that "from" Digging further by doing a fake order that's $999 for the 64GB; it's $1149 for 256GB. And price depends on the finish as well.
Depending on your carrier and program the price will very: "Available to qualified customers with a credit check and eligible U.S. credit card. Requires a 24-month installment loan with a 0% APR from Citizens Bank, N.A. (subject to any interest, fees, or other costs payable to the issuer of the credit card), purchase of AppleCare+, and iPhone activation with one of these national carriers: AT&T, Sprint, or Verizon. Activation on T-Mobile available in the Apple Store. Sales tax and any applicable fees due at time of purchase."
So - for cost comparison sake - who knows?

Already answered earlier in the thread. According to Wikipedia, US sales tax varies between 1 and 10%.

I don't know about the other states, but NH is definitely a no sales tax state.
