Hi all, I am new to this forum but one thing I have always loved is my mac. I have a very old 2008 MacBook which is about to pack up. Due to money being tight with us having a one year old and living in London, I need to get a cheap/ish replacement. I wondered if anyone has ever ordered from Macbank.co.uk? They look pretty genuine and I would like to buy this one:

Any feedback with regards to the company much appreciated.
Thank you :)

Has anyone had any dealings with ot heard anything about Macbank.co.uk? My wife's MacBook is now falling apart and needs to be replaced. She had found one, I think with the same specs at macbank.co.uk I know that years ago it was always important to get the original system discs with a second hand Mac but this one says it comes with a Macbank branded USB which I guess is the same as one we could make ourselves with the download. Is there anything else to look out for?

There are some good reviews (IF they're genuine!) and they offer a 6 month warranty, which sounds pretty good.

What I would say though, is that on a Core 2 Duo Sierra might run a tad on the slow side, even with 8GB RAM. If your main activity is browsing the interweb and email, stuff like that, then it might do.

You also need to factor in your software - what OS are you currently running on your old MacBook? If it's later than Snow Leopard, it should run (mostly) ok in Sierra, but do tell us what your 'killer apps' are.

Added: it does seem rather pricy - compare with these on Amazon (USA site):

£349 for a small 7 year old MacBook seems a little bit steep to me!

I would steer clear of a Core 2 duo machine now at all costs. It won't run the latest operating systems very well. You will find the CPU is always too busy, the later Core i models will be much less stressed, and 8 GB of memory is not particularly large for that price. I think there are all sorts of reasons why I would not buy that particular one.

I think you could do a lot better on eBay with a little bit of looking around and asking a couple of questions of the seller if you are unsure about them. I've had some good bargains there. Apart from eBay, a private seller would be better.

It's overpriced and under specced imo. As you are now a member here you could put a wanted ad for the sort of thing you are looking for in For Sale/Wanted

I think a 13" 2011/12/13 MacBook Air would be much better and probably not any more expensive than that.
- If bought privately.
