Interesting choice of wording in the release notes saying it “mitigates the effects of Spectre” . The dictionary definition of Mitigate: “make (something bad) less severe, serious, or painful.”
Doesn’t sound like they have full confidence of this being a proper fix. Guess another fix will follow shortly then?

From the little I have read, it isn't able to be fixed purely with software. Needs a hardware fix.
