I have to say that 16.1.1 really gets through battery power quickly. The graph in Settings is steeper than I have seen before. I only looked because I charged it yesterday morning and it should go at least two days before another but it is at 29% now. Ah well. Roll on the fix.

Thanks for the tip.
Regarding that battery issue - after a week of it annoying me, I turned the iPhone off then on and drainage went back to 'normal'. Seems I neglected to mention it.

I have always believed that turning a device off occasionally helps sort things out - even if one doesn't know what, if anything, needs sorting. I turn my stuff off once or twice a month for that reason.

Power cycling (I hate that expression) is always a worthwhile first step. I just had it in mind that it had been turned off/on during the update. I'm old, is my excuse. I got there in the end.

Ha. The time that I think that a device most needs to be turned off is after an update. The off-on cycle during the update "doesn't count"; it won't relieve an issue appearing after the update. No real evidence to support this. Each time that I turn a device off - if only for a few minutes (sometimes overnight), I think that I hear a whispered, "Thanks. I needed that."

Some good reasoning there. The iOS/iPadOS/WatchOS updates don't register like that with me as they usually go as expected. Maybe they will in future.

BTW: this recent update: 16.1.2 seems to be only for the Phone. I'm not getting anything for the Pads.

Indeed, no iPadOS or iOS for HomePods. I think it is mainly to fix the crash detection issues with the 14s.

I can no longer find the ”vibrate-upon-ringing” control. I've looked everywhere – including the obvious Sounds & Haptics control. It isn't there. At the bottom of that control is a System Haptics on-off switch. I'm guessing that if I turn that switch off, vibrate-upon-ringing will be off. If that is the case, it seems to be an all-or-nothing affair.
In a perfect world, I would simply like to turn off vibrate-upon-ringing - and keep other ”system haptics" on. Am I missing something?

There should be an option called Haptic Alerts which, I would imagine, switch off vibrate on ringing.

There should be...but there isn't. There are two controls: "play haptics in ring mode" and "play haptics in silent mode" which offer some control, but vibrate-upon-ringing (on/off option) seems binned.

I found something additional, but it still doesn't make this world perfect: Accessibility>Touch>Vibration
