Thanks. No problems yet but it is taking ages to download the old selection of apps. Slow, but steady.

It went well, thanks. Getting the apps took a few hours and then I had to sign in to and/or authenticate everything - a long and winding process but I had nothing better to do. I expect the Watch next week will be more fun and games but simpler, I hope.

I don't know if it is the hardware or watchOS 10.x but my Watch has become unreliable at "raise to speak". I use that function a lot.

For me, AirDrop has always been a bit of a hit-or-miss activity. I've always been able to, for example, transfer photos that way - but the connection to Mac isn't always made "instantly". I sometimes need to "encourage" it to see my Mac. I just attempted to use AirDrop for the first time under iOS17. I'm not able to use it: "No People Found" etc.
Has anyone (else) had difficulty with AirDrop since the roll-out of iPhone iOS17?

AirPlay and AirDrop have never given me any grief. I'm only told "no people" when the iMac is napping. So far, so good with these latest OSs in those departments.

Well, I have now. And that's all it took. My bad for not trying that first thing. (It usually is.)

When I am AirDropping TO the Mac, I sometimes find that I have to have a Finder window open for it to work. Why I do not know.
When AirDropping FROM the Mac, it works seamlessly.

I have never AirDropped FROM my Mac; only TO.
I have a Finder window permanently open on my computer; it is its sidebar that I use to launch AirDrop. I have never used any other method to launch AirDrop. Perhaps using the menu/keyboard-shortcut can eliminate that sometimes niggle. I'll give it a shot - but it might be difficult to evaluate over the short time of my lifetime.
Thanks.

Right click on item you want to share ▸ Share ▸ AirDrop is another way of doing it.
