Radio 2 is slowly turning into what Capital Gold used to be. I listen to it more these days; won't be so good when/if Paul Gambaccini retires.

For anyone in north London who fancies reliving some 70's punk (and newer punk probably) Vic Godard and The Subway Sect are playing Nambucca in Holloway Road tonight (Friday 14th). Charles Dexter Ward & The Imagineers are also playing, they might appeal to the more outré mind.

Blind Faith's version of Buddy's Well All Right, followed by Grateful Dead's version of Not Fade Away on .
Always interesting to hear other people's 'take' on something familiar as long as it is their own and not just a copy.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XDXu61ZXgWEhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=REz4QFfjiM0The best music has to come from within, I don't mind remakes of other people's music as long as it's done with flair and soul. Parrot fashion remakes I don't get on with, you can always tell when somebody is just trying it on - or are they the real McCoy? Steve Winwood has always been a consummate musician, Grateful Dead, I'm afraid their country music has faded from me now. RP playlist Radio Paradise seems to be an amazing station, looks like you get a lot of enjoyment from it Highmac!

I do like dipping into the comments (click on the song title, in case you didn't know ) Now playing Chris Rea's Road to Hell... iPad playing through the living room stereo. Luckily we're detached On remakes - from my era I guess Cocker made Help From My Friends so much his own you had to remind yourself it was a Beatles song!

Chris Rea's Road to Hell - hum that is just too hackneyed for my taste. Way too tedious for me. Joe Cocker did a brilliant job though. It's okay to remake music as long as you re-make it, and not regurgitate it. Delta Lady was great, I'm not sure where that came from originally? Unless you are a singer-songwriter or composer, you're bound to use other people's music.
My current faves (based on playcount): Radiohead. King Crimson. Tori Amos. Van Der Graaf Generator. Capt. Beefheart and his Magic Band. Nick Drake.
